Welcome! I'm so glad you're here! The koru (Māori for "loop”) is a spiral shape based on an unfurling fern frond and symbolizes new life, growth, strength and peace. You will see the koru all over my website as the symbols it embodies mirror my beliefs about the process of counseling.
It’s kinda like this…
The depression or anxiety or relationship issues you are facing are on one side of the table, and you and I sit together on the other side and partner to figure out a plan and then we work the plan. I’ve got your back... I also have a shed of tools and evidenced-based best practices to bring forth to guide the process. You have a shed of tools too with your strengths, gifts and interests so we rummage through to piece together what feels right and give our best effort to move towards the koru's new life, growth, strength and peace.
Here are some highlights to look for as you peruse my site-
I am a therapist with offices in Portland and Lake Oswego and offer individual and couple counseling both in office and in a WALK & TALK format. Get in your daily walk or activate a new exercise behavior while you are in counseling- it's a twofer. More under the services tab.
I have a special interest in supporting adults with ADHD as well as caring for ADHD - nonADHD partnerships. Our work is aimed at helping you keep the awesome but put work arounds in play for any executive functioning snafus AND healing the wounds from past patterns of relating. More under the services tab.
Check out the about me and my approach tabs to see if we are a good fit. My guidance to you is to first make sure any counselor you choose ticks the 3 must-haves: (1) a license to practice, (2) member of a governing body mandating an ethical code, and (3) an evidenced based approach to therapy. Once you narrow your search using those 3 must-haves, the rest is about your connection to the person and their approach so your guts will inform you if it feels right. You can reach me to have a chat and explore working together via the contact tab.
Whether we work together or not, please enjoy the inspiration tab! It is chock full of good reads, TED talks, and resources for self-directed problem solving and building a life worth leading. It is my repository of good things and it is a major value of mine to share any and all tools of value- so this is my place to do that. Feel free to share with me also! Shoot me an email if you run across something that would be good to add or let me know what in that list you find inspirational.
